Privacy changes how safety works
clyr cannot ordinarily inspect end-to-end encrypted message plaintext. We can act on account and zone activity, abuse signals, public or unencrypted material, and the exact content a participant chooses to report. This prevents silent admin browsing while preserving a clear route to ask for help.
Community rules
Every user must follow the Terms of Service. Illegal activity, child exploitation, credible threats, non-consensual intimate material, harassment, doxxing, scams, malware, impersonation, spam, and attacks on clyr are prohibited. Zone owners may add local rules as long as those rules do not conflict with Clyr’s.
Zone moderation
Zone owners and moderators can manage roles and permissions, remove messages from their zone view, and kick or ban members. Local moderators are responsible for applying their rules fairly. They cannot use Clyr administration to read private DMs.
Reporting an encrypted message
- You choose the message, a reason, and the limited surrounding context shown in the report preview.
- Your device decrypts only that selected snippet and submits it to Trust & Safety.
- Every author whose message is included is notified that the selected content is no longer encrypted from Clyr reviewers and is told the report reason.
- A reviewer can see the submitted snippet and report details—not scroll through the rest of the conversation.
Report only what is relevant. Deliberately false, retaliatory, or spam reports may lead to action. For material you cannot report in-product, email safety@clyrzones.com.
What Clyr may do
Depending on severity and context, we may warn a user, limit features, remove access to a zone, revoke sessions or devices, suspend an account, preserve relevant records, or report an imminent threat or unlawful material where required. Encryption does not prevent action on content a participant has deliberately disclosed.
Protect your account and devices
- Use a unique password and enable two-factor authentication.
- Approve new devices only when you initiated the sign-in.
- Compare security numbers with a contact through another trusted channel.
- Treat an unexpected key-change warning as a reason to pause and verify.
- Revoke a lost or stolen device immediately. Revocation protects future keys but cannot erase content already received by that device.
Appeals and privacy
You can request review of an eligible account action through Data & account requests. Details about report retention, device data, and your privacy rights are in the Privacy Policy.
Immediate danger
If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. Clyr is not an emergency service. Then preserve relevant information and contact safety@clyrzones.com.
